APPIANO, di Alessandria (95-160 d.C. circa) - tradotto da Pier CANDIDO DECEMBRIO (1399-1477) - De bellis civilibus. Venice: Cristoforo Pensi, 1500. An elegant Venetian edition printed in 1500 of this second part of Appianus' complete work "Historia romana" which follows the first of 1472 published in Venice by Vindelino Spira. It is a vital source for the restless and violent years that preceded the solution of the Roman republic. Folio (292 x 206mm). Spaces for initials with guide letters (without final blank, small wormtrack at inner margin of a few leaves, p6 and C4 detached, light repaired tear on leaf d2). Contemporary vellum (spine with early restoration, light staining, extremities a bit rubbed). Provenance: few early marginal annotations - manuscript title and portrait of the author (?) on title.
