PLINIO, Gaio Secondo (23-79 d.C.) - Naturae historiarum libri XXXVII.. Prima pars Pliniani indicis. Venice: Giorgio Rusconi, 1520-1519. First edition of Pliny to contain the indices of Giovanni Ricucci da Camerino composed during the stay of the Vicentine friar in Vienna. The Latin text refers to the one corrected by Ermolao Barbaro in his "Castigationes". 2 parts in one volume, folio (284 x 205mm). Titles in red and black within an elaborate frame with animals and plants, printer's device with St. George and the dragon (first title lightly soiled and with a few tiny holes, without blank at the end of the first part, occasional minimal spotting and browning, some small wormholes at the top inner margin in the last 4 leaves). Later vellum, manuscript title on spine (light staining). Provenance: some underlining and ancient annotations (slightly trimmed at outer margin).
