Later edition of Aldrovandi's treatise dedicated to crustaceans, octopuses, shells, jellyfish. It is one of the earliest works and the largest set of concological illustrations and descriptions published to date . Folio (358 x 233mm). Title within an engraved frame in imitation of the one of the 1606 edition printed by Bellagamba, numerous woodcut illustrations in the text, some full-page, woodcut headpieces and initials (without the three dedication leaves π2-π4, wormholes in the lower right margin from title to leaf b without loss of text, hole in the colophon with partial loss of text, otherwise in good condition). Contemporary vellum with manuscript title on spine, speckled edges (small chips to spine).
