ALBERTI, Antonio (1785-1861) - Flora medica ossia catalogo alfabetico ragionato delle piante medicinali. Milan: Destafinis, 1817. An unfortunately incomplete copy of this rare botanical repertoire dedicated to Prince Eugene and illustrated by the splendid intaglio plates by Dell'Acqua with colouring by Lazzaretti. The work illustrates 392 medicinal and edible plants organized in alphabetical order and is completed by the repertoire that divides them according to their functions and their classes according to the Linnean system. This copy is embellished by the presence of the original wrappers from which we learn the considerable original cost of the individual bundles, two Italian lire. . 7 volumi, 8vo (222 x 140mm). 387 contemporary water-coloured plates + 4 repeated (of 394 plates, plates 51 and 52 are missing from the first volume, in the sixth volume the fascicle 2(8) with plates 305, 306, 307, 308 is not present and in its place fascicle 3(8) is repeated with the respective plates, in volume 7 plate 373 is missing), water-coloured frontispiece at the opening of the "Repertorio delle piante medicinali" bound at the end to the seventh volume with the dedication to Prince Eugene (some spotting and some light stains mainly on the text and the tissues). Contemporary boards with leather labels with gilt title on spines, original printed wrappers applied to the boards (slight defects). (7)
